Intubation can be difficult in various conditions like obesity, foreign body, anatomic variations (micrognathia, arched palate, short neck , large tongue and prominent upper incisors), causes leading to an inadequate neck extension, traumatic factors (laryngeal fracture, maxillary fracture cervical spine injury), congenital anomalies and infectious cause and till date we have not been able to access any detailed randomized comparative studies between Mc Coy and Airtraq laryngoscopes in elective surgical patients. Based on the advantageous roles of Airtaq and Mc Coy laryngoscopes we designed a prospective randomized study to compare the time taken for successful insertion and hemodynamic instability of Airtraq and Mc Coy in elective surgical patients.
