René Mezene nasceu em Akonolinga, Região Centro dos Camarões. Estudou na Ecole Nationale Supérieur des Postes et Télécommunications du Cameroun. Possui um Diploma de Administrador de Correios e Telecomunicações e um Mestrado II em Direito Internacional Público e Comunitário pela Universidade de Yaoundé II.
