Continuous training of Teachers Advisory Centre Tutors (TAC Tutors) now known as Curriculum Advisors is necessary to equip them with competencies that will make them effective curriculum leaders, who can stimulate and support effective curriculum development at the school level. This study sought to identify and analyse the training needs of (TAC tutors) as curriculum leaders, and offer proposals on how these needs could be met effectively and efficiently. Its objectives were: to identify the competencies Curriculum Advisors (TAC tutors) need to perform their roles effectively; incorporate these competencies into proposals for a training programme for TAC tutors) and make recommendations on their training. The macro-competencies investigated included TAC Tutors roles: as curriculum change agents, curriculum information providers, directors and organizers of in-service training and curriculum evaluators (Collins 1971). Specific competencies were studied under each macro-competency.The Needs Assessment process as advanced by English and Kaufman (1975) and Competency Based Training constituted the theoretical framework.
