Joy Young is a distinguished music industry executive with over a decade of experience dedicated to supporting artists and creatives. Her career began as an intern at Trill Entertainment/Asylum Records and Atlantic Records, where she also served as a College Representative. During her junior and senior years at Southern University and A&M College, she worked as a Marketing Assistant for Trill Entertainment. Upon graduating, Joy moved to Atlanta and became the urban street team representative for Atlantic Records. Concurrently, she leveraged her B.A. in Mass Communications to freelance in TV and film production, working with networks such as BET, Oxygen, CBS, Fox, and PBS. Her notable production credits include the Grammy Awards, Soul Train Awards, and BET Honors. After three years in freelance production, Joy joined Janelle Monáe's Wondaland Management team as an Artist Project Manager for six years. She then advanced to Roc Nation as the Southeast Regional Promotion Director, where she honed her skills in securing radio airplay across Urban, Urban Adult Contemporary (R&B), and Rhythmic formats. Her success at Roc Nation led to a position at Universal Music Group's Interscope Records as Southeast Regional Promotion Director, where she achieved eleven #1 records in three years, working with prominent artists such as DaBaby, GloRilla, J.Cole, Kendrick Lamar, Ella Mai, Summer Walker, Ari Lennox, and many others. Currently, Joy is preparing to release her debut book, Prosper On Purpose. This faith-based self-help book offers practical insights for entrepreneurs to discover their purpose and achieve financial success. Additionally, Joy has launched her own record label, Playtime Music, which will provide comprehensive in-house label services including artist development, marketing, promotion, digital and content strategy, project management, and consulting. An active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated, Sigma Alpha Iota International Music Fraternity for Women Incorporated, SESAC, and Southern University's Human Jukebox Alumni Association, Joy is passionate about her many professional affiliations. "While I've received numerous accolades throughout my career, being a very present and hands on mother is my greatest joy. As I embark on this new career chapter with my debut book, Prosper On Purpose, and the launch of Playtime Music, I am excited to embrace ownership and reach my fullest potential.
