The tambaqui (Colossoma macropomum) has high potential for zootechnical exploitation because, as well as having highly prized meat, it can reach a commercial size of around 1kg in the first year of rearing in captivity. However, there is a lack of information on crude protein and its reduction with supplementation of limiting amino acids.
