Compassionate care is an international priority for healthcare professionals, particularly in the nursing profession. It has been reported as the essence of nursing care. In clinical settings, compassionate care can increase patients' trust and satisfaction, aiding recovery. For the caregivers, it also improves their job satisfaction and retention. However, healthcare professionals are faced with challenges in providing compassionate care because of the demands of high-quality care with fewer resources. The situation is even more challenging in caring for elderly people, who may need more compassionate care. Since there is little work done on compassionate care in the Egyptian cultural context, studying this phenomenon could provide a deep understanding of compassionate care from the perspective of Egyptian nurses.
