The present book was the result of the academic undertaking to understand a singular political process, not disconnected from the national political scenario, in the city of Recife. The integrated sanitation policy of the Workers' Party (PT) represented a management model of its own in a certain sense and endowed with singularities from the point of view of the conceptual approach that marked the formulation of a public policy appropriate to the social reality of the city which, in turn, is very common to other Brazilian and Latin American cities marked by precarious housing and sanitation for a significant portion of the population. We hope that this will be an enlightening and palatable reading for the reader eager to discover the process of formulation of the integrated sanitation policy, the imaginary of the PT management and its metamorphosis according to the taste of political cycles.
