The future of any nation depends largely on the quality of its youth. Nigeria established a Youth Policy in 2001, to be a guide towards achieving youth development in the country. However, the condition of the youth in the country has remained appalling. The need to review the policy process of the National Youth Development Policy (NYP) as an instrument for addressing the problems of the youth in the Fourth Republic engendered the writing of this work. With the aid of Systems Theory of David Easton and using the traditional method of data collection and analysis, the book reviews government s efforts towards actualizing the goals of this policy. The book is arranged in five chapters. Chapter one lays the foundation of the book. Chapter two is the literature, theoretical framework and conceptual clarifications. Chapter three gives the historical evolution of the NYP of Nigeria. Chapter four reviews the implementation of the Youth Policy using thematic areas like education, etc. Chapter five is the conclusion. The book is recommended for students and teachers of politics, public policy and government, policy makers, NGOs and the general public as it concerns the entire society.
