Irrespective of country, SMEs face common problems which impair both their performance and survival rate. National governments and international societies arrange programs to support SME sector in different ways. Information support and consultancy not only help to create new businesses and keep them on market for the first years but also has strategically long term meaning. In transition economies development of SMEs is additionally one of the important elements of structural reforms. Comparative analysis of SMEs development and their support in Ukraine and Germany presented in this book shows common problems, which confirms that similar methods can be used in SME support in both countries. But as world practice shows, it's not enough just to copy SME support models. They should be adjusted to present conditions. Oksana Ilashchuk was born in 1984 in Kiev, Ukraine. Graduated National Agricultural University of Ukraine, Department of Management of Foreign Economic Activities in 2005 and received M. Sc. degree in Food and Agribusiness at HS Anhalt (FH), Germany in 2010.
