This report studied Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) in Lagos Metropolitan Area. Its aim was to examine the essential components of the system with a view to understand its operation and service characteristics. The book extensively reviewed literature on Public Transportation Improvement, Bus Rapid Transit and Sustainable Transportation Development. Data used for the study were sourced through Transit Operator Survey, Mystery Traveler Survey, and BRT Users' Survey. Investigation conducted in the course of the study revealed that BRT in Lagos was managed on Public Private Participation term. This has positive implications on the efficiency of its operation, the quality of its service and its sustainability. The common perception of riders is that the quality of service of Bus Rapid transit is better than the quality of service of other means of public transportation in existence in the area. The study recommends facilities upgrading, expansion of the service area and content, and improvement on the quality of service as a measure to achieve increase in demand for Bus Rapid Transit in Lagos.
