This book discusses the contemporary political status of Puerto Rico. Puerto Rico had been awarded to the U.S. following the end of the American-Spanish War in 1898. Over 100 years have passed and the country is still officially known as the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. This book looks at several referendums calling for U.S. Statehood or Independence. By the time of writing this in 2013 the Puerto Rican people still have no Statehood or Independence.
