Washington State University 1988 graduate David Arnold spent more time on the Snake River rowing than in the library studying. He earned a master's degree and a doctorate in history from UCLA, and now teaches at Columbia Basin College. His first book, The Fisherman's Frontier, is also about men and women in boats.
