Autorenporträt
I am Hardeep Kaur Khosa. My parents immigrated to Canada from India. I was born and raised in Surrey, BC. I have a Bachelor of Arts in History, a Bachelor of Education, and a Masters of Education in Home Economics. I have taught for 11 years in the Surrey School District. This book was inspired while creating a final for my Child Development class. Surrey is a multicultural city and I realized that many of my students do not see their family's culture reflected in various rituals, events, and products that are common in Canada. This book began as an example for my students, but my colleagues (many of whom also come from immigrant families) encouraged me to publish it. My passion for history and understanding of sociology is combined to create this memento with love and dedication to my upbringing as a Punjabi, Sikh in Surrey. The hope is that this book is a time capsule for your child that will help your family to keep a connection to your roots.
