Qemal Stafa is a the largest soccer stadium in Tirana, Albania, named after Qemal Stafa, a World War II hero. It is currently used mostly for football matches. The stadium has 19,600 seats. The stadium was built as an Olympic Stadium by Gerardo Bozio, a young fascist architect from Florence, Italy who projected it with a capacity of 15,000 places. Tirana at that time ( 30s) had less than 60,000 inhabitants so the stadium would be more than sufficient. The stadium was projected with an ellyptical form and it would have been completely encircled of marble, had the initial project eventually prevailed.
