It has been stated that sleep disorders begin early in HIV disease. We evaluated the sleep characteristics and Quality of Life (QoL) of women with HIV/AIDS. Carried out at the Corsini Center, the study group was composed of 30 women with HIV/AIDS, mean age 35.4 years. The control group was composed of 30 women who did not know their HIV diagnosis from the 31st March Health Center. Instruments: Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index, Beck Depression Inventory, Beck Anxiety Inventory and HIV/AIDS-Target Quality of Life. There was a significant difference between the group of AIDS patients and the control group regarding the global sleep score (p=0.003). Regarding depressive and anxiety symptoms, the results pointed out that the group of AIDS patients has higher anxiety scores and there was no significant difference in depression symptoms. Regarding QL there was no significant difference between the groups of symptomatic and asymptomatic women, but the asymptomatic women presented more impairments in the QL domains than the control group.
