An accessible, accurate, and up-to-date introduction to quantum field theory In the newly revised third edition of Quantum Field Theory, a team of distinguished researchers delivers an accessible introduction to the challenging concepts of quantum field theory, including brand-new content on the Higgs boson, anomalous magnetic moments, and applications of quantum chromodynamics and supporting experimental results. The text offers clear explanations and step-by-step derivations of the constituent equations and discusses their physical consequences. The authors effectively describe the foundational physics and formalism of quantum field theory, using Feynman diagrams to help readers become proficient in perturbation theory calculations. They also introduce the reader to gauge theories that are playing a central role in elementary particle physics. Inside the book: * More detailed treatments of the Higgs boson and anomalous magnetic moments * Comprehensive explorations of quantum electrodynamics, including its historical development and contributions to quantum field theory * Practical discussions of weak interactions, including non-Abelian gauge groups and spontaneous symmetry breaking * Up-to-date treatments of the Weinberg-Salam standard electro-weak theory Perfect for advanced undergraduate and graduate students in physics with an interest in theoretical and experimental particle physics, Quantum Field Theory is a gentle and accurate introduction to the challenging and intimidating concepts that make up the discipline.
