Kate Long, geboren 1964, studierte Englische Literaturwissenschaft an der Bristol University, arbeitete mehrere Jahre als Lehrerin und begann nebenher, Kurzgeschichten zu verfassen. So wurde der Herausgeber einer Literaturzeitschrift auf sie aufmerksam, der sie dazu ermunterte, einen Roman zu schreiben: »Das Handbuch für Rabenmütter«, das in England sofort für große Furore sorgte. Kate Long lebt mit ihrem Mann und ihren beiden kleinen Kindern in Shropshire.
