The existing antifungals are becoming resistant infectious disease and urgent need is to diversity new antimicrobial compound with diverse chemical structure and novel mechanism of action of newly diagnosed and re-emerging infectious disease. The current study aims at investigating in vitro antifungal activity of Q. infectoria galls extract against C. albicans and to design and to formulate an stable, efficacious, easy to administer and safe local oromucosal drug delivery system of Quercus infectoria galls extract. Various two gelling agents were evaluated for their potential to oral gel the Q. infectoria galls extract, physicochemical characteristics and antifungal activity of the Q. infectoria galls extract-based oral gel was determined through different aspects including pre-formulation aspects, formulation aspects and post-formulation aspects. The results indicate the importance of herbal formulation in treatment of disease conditions like oral candidiasis.
