Comenzó como logopeda, estudió arte dramático y lo utilizó como herramienta de comunicación, se trasladó a Irlanda y prestó servicios a personas con discapacidades y autismo, amplió sus conocimientos de atención terapéutica y terminó un PG en protección y bienestar infantil antes de estudiar un doctorado en estudios de la infancia en la Universidad de Queens Belfast.
