Barbara Cairns, a New Englander, is a former teacher and school principal who traveled extensively while working for Department of Defense schools. Her books thus far have been geared toward children with her art series GATSBY'S GRAND ADVENTURES, her history book CRACKER COW, and her captioned photo book featuring NIMH, THE DUMBO RAT. Her first fiction novel, NETTIE'S DREAM is a heartwarming and exciting story set in the rocky coast of Maine. An animal lover, Barbara volunteers weekly at the Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park. She lives on the Nature Coast of Florida with her Englishman husband, Ian.
