The station was split in two on 3 January 1990, with the creation of Clyde 1 and Clyde 2 after the government mandate a change in the permission for frequency sharing. Scottish Radio Holdings controlled the company until 2005. Past presenters have included Jeff Cooper, Paul Coia, Ken Sykora, Richard Park, Tiger Tim Stevens, Mark Goodier Billy Sloan and Dougie Donnelly. BBC Breakfast anchor Bill Turnbull also began his career in journalism at the station.
