UMTS, following the previous versions 1G and GSM, becomes modern mobile network which is the most popular in Vietnam in particular and the world in general. In Vietnam, UMTS has been developed for about three years, therefore, the planning and optimizing network is still a problem. Thus my book intends to analyze and simulate the radio link of a UMTS radio system aiming to uplink radio planning. In radio access network, a mobile system needs to find out the best server to connect to use services. The parameters in analysis process such as link loss model, interference from other users or other cell are considered. With using Malab tool to build models and test results, the expected results are how to choose the best server for MS with random position and Uplink capacity thathas been derived. Other evaluations about system capacity are also carried out. These results are used to clearly understand the performance of the radio access network (RAN) of UMTS system.

I graduated in the Vietnamese National University (VNU) with a Bachelor of Electronics and Communication in 2012. After that, I undertook postgraduate studies in the Seoul National University (SNU) in Electrical and Computer Engineering. Now, I am working as a research assistant in the same field.
