Since the beginning of the 1990s, Radio Raza has been an experimental wireless project featuring humorous satire. The idea behind Radio Raza came about when creators Jorge Estrada and César M. Granados were on a camping trip and walking around the outskirts of Yautepec, a city in Morelos, Mexico. The first broadcast of the program occurred on August 1 and 2, 1990, in which the two founders personified two humble radio announcers from a small fictional town in Morelos called Cuauchichinona (derived from the actual town Cuauchichinola in Morelos). The project was entitled "La hora de los compadres" ("The Hour of Friends"). The broadcasts regularly feature a humorous set of phone calls and commercials for fictitious and odd products. The program is transmitted via an antenna called a "cramambólica" in a free podcast available on the show''s official site. However, during the early days of the program, from approximately 1990 to 1994, Radio Raza was a 60-minute program recorded on cassette tapes.
