Radiodifusión Argentina al Exterior (RAE) is Argentina''s state-owned international broadcaster, which utilises shortwave and the Internet. RAE was founded "Servicio Internacional de la República Argentina" (SIRA, Argentine Republic''s International Service), on 11 April 1949, by then President Juan Perón. SIRA broadcasted 24 hours a day in seven languages. After September 1955''s coup d''état which removed Perón, SIRA was shut-down. The station started to broadcast again on 12 February 1958 under the new name of "Radiodifusión Argentina al Exterior''", roughly translated as "Argentine International Broadcasting". RAE is operated by LRA1 Radio Nacional, Argentina''s official broadcaster.
