Its seat is the town of Bolków, which lies approximately 15 kilometres (9 mi) south-west of Jawor and 70 kilometres (43 mi) west of the regional capital Wroc aw. The gmina covers an area of 152.8 square kilometres (59.0 sq mi), and as of 2006 its total population is 11,047 (out of which the population of Bolków amounts to 5,380, and the population of the rural part of the gmina is 5,667).
