This paper seeks to establish and clarify the interpretations that Rafael Gutiérrez Girardot (1928-2005) carried out throughout his critical work on the Colombian poet León de Greiff. Although Gutiérrez did not leave a systematic work on the poet -as he did with Jorge Luis Borges or Alfonso Reyes-, he wrote at least several essays and critiques in which his evolution as a critic of literature and, especially, of contemporary poetry can be evidenced.
