Rafael Uribe Uribe (born April 12, 1859 in Valparaíso, Antioquia - died October 15, 1914 in Bogotá) was a Colombian lawyer, journalist, and general in the liberal party rebel army. Being a lawyer by training and unlike Benjamin Herrera, Uribe Uribe had no formal military education and was a mediocre commander. At the beginning of the Thousand Days War, his incompetence and lack of strategy leaded to the failed assault on Bucaramanga, that costed the liberal army 600 casualties. Later in the same war he fortified the town of Corozal, just to abandon it to Pedro Nel Ospina without resistance.
