In the middle of the Nineteenth century, Andhra witnessed a period of Social Reform Movement. This was because of the western education and social structural changes brought by the British rulers in all parts of the Indian society.n Andhra, region the reform started by Kandukuri Veeresalingam, who was the leader of the social reform movement in the region. He was the first and the fore most reformers in the Andhra region.After Veeresalingam Raghupati Venkataratnam was the great social reformer in Andhra Region. Raghupati Venkataratnam Naidu was born on September 1862 at Machilipatnam in Krishna District. His parents were Appaiah Naidu and Seshamamba. But he was brought up at north India. Raghupati Venkataratnam Naidu was a great scholar and silver tongued orator. During his stay at Machilipatnam in 1887 as a lecturer, he played a significant role in the establishment of Prarthana Samaj there. The social service rendered by him was recognized by the government, universities, co-reformers of Brahma Samaj, citizens and honoured Raghupati Venkataratnam Naidu. He was received many awards. He was recognized the great social reformer of India in general and Andhra in particular.
