Poetry saved my life, as cliché as that may sound. Many nights I lay in bed, unwell, haunted by the injustices I had endured-leaving my home as a Palestinian woman at 18 and encountering further forms of injustice in the UK. Caught in a perpetual fight-or-flight response and survival mode became my norm. Creativity has always been my safe escape, a refuge from years of injustice and abuse. In the darkest times, I found resilience through art, creating videos, and taking the stage to amplify my voice against oppression and injustice.

After years of losing my voice, I found freedom. It was akin to learning to walk again, to speak, to articulate words. English, my second language, transformed into my primary form of expression. I am resolute in my pursuit of growth. My past propels me forward, enabling me to support other women facing abuse. I refuse to let my past shatter me; the broken pieces of my old self inspire the person I am today. Currently, I am immersed in writing my fictional novella, "Re-Embroidered Palestinian." But my work does not culminate here! As long as injustice and oppression persist in this world, I will utilise my creativity and writing as forms of resistance.Art is my chosen means of protest.'
