This study has strived to call forth a response for following subject: "Is there any survivor among the oppressed people? ". In order to make a pertinent deduction, different aspects of assimilation and adaptation from immigrants' points of view have been explored. This study has been carried out in light of vast realm of post-colonialism, from which, Homi K. Bhabha's notions are applied on Isabel Allende's The Japanese Lover and In The Midst of Winter. Casting around the supposedly previously-shaped identity divulges the underlying truths about people's real selves.
