Life in Cricket Cove, Maine.... Idyllic paradise? Or a place where a hilarious series of misadventures go wrong in the lives of brothers John and Sam? When their father buys an outboard engine for the family's fishing boat, John and Sam are convinced it's their ticket to becoming what they've always wanted to be-professional spies! Why? Because real spies don't use rowboats-they use top-secret power boats with outboard engines to practice dangerously evasive maneuvers while tackling Cricket Cove's bad guys. Unfortunately, that plan has a few hurdles. First, John and Sam must convince their safety-minded parents that they won't chop off a foot while using the boat's 'questionable' new propeller. Or, for that matter, that they won't crash into rocks and cause a rush of fiery explosions, which is the most likely reason their mother would tell them the boat is now off-limits. If this isn't enough, enter the Johnson brothers, two bullies who bring out the worst in John and Sam, leading them to take serious risks they would never dare to do on their own. "Real Spies Don't Use Rowboats" captures the innocent charm of "The Wonder Years" and the imaginative spirit of "Calvin and Hobbes." It's a fun, laughter-filled journey through childhood, with John and Sam navigating the harrowing trials of growing up. The bonus? Along the way, they also learn forgiveness and build self-esteem, one misadventure at a time.
