In recent years, the digital library's storage capacity has grown explosively due to evolution in the field of digital image acquisition technologies. The difficulty of digital images database is being generated, stored, and approach to research, remote sensing, educational and other application provided to users increased rapidly. For efficient search, many optimized techniques have been developed that can automatically retrieve the query image from the huge database. To address this problem, one of the commonly adopted solutions is content-based image indexing and retrieval. In this book, the author introduces six different content-based local descriptors with suitable examples and analysed the performance in terms of average precision and average recall rate on corel and ponce data-sets. Further descriptors are generalized for Nth-order derivative pattern using (N-1)th-order derivative, based on multi-rotational gabor feature extraction.
