Clifford has worked in industry and consulted across different sectors and functions, blending interests in people, process and technology. Since the beginning he has been fascinated by all things related to simplicity, including software and process design, lean thinking, product/service design, organisational effectiveness, government policy, building architecture and personal productivity.Starting his career in IT, he built some of the first Windows-based applications for senior management dashboard reporting. Recognising the need for both focus and breadth in decision-making he switched path from software engineer to project and then general management. Progressing through businesses and working at executive board level he gained valuable insights into the critical success factors of modern organisations. He has had leadership roles supporting manufacturing, charities, governance, procurement, commodities, systems technology, change programmes, six-sigma, lean, outsourcing and off-shoring. Experience in small, medium and large organisations provides a real-world perspective, giving many examples of the good, the great and the less so! Latterly he has focused on providing advice to companies designing and implementing effective operating models and supporting digital change programmes.Really Simple is a synthesis of his learnings and provides a manifesto for a simpler world.
