The universe of Rebecca Horn, made up of performances, sculptures, installations, paintings, poems and film, in fact contains a third world, which only very recently has revealed its intrinsic dynamism and power. Over thirty years she has developed a new technique for combining painting and photography, or "photopainting". Out of this came her latest tactic: painting combined with film - at is to say, painting projected into space. Such a "fata morgana" suggests endless possibilities for breathtaking pictorial spaces; especially if Horn`s subject is passion - a passion of prodigal abundance that loses itself in the measureless vision of a freedom beyond the horizon. With a text by the novelist Iso Camartin and a conversation between Rebecca Horn and art historian Doris von Drathen, this book for the first time shows the inner truth of the fata morgana works: they are nothing less than the light of consciousness that for one instance magnifies a tiny aspect of our life.
