This study explores the utility of artificial neural network for change detection. Section one gives an introduction about the objective of change detection, definition of artificial neural network, learning of neural network, applications of neural net- work in remote sensing and the objective of this research. Section two is a literature review of neural network. Section three concerned with neural network, some definitions about neural network, neuron were mentioned. The idea of neural networks was explained. The topology of neural network was studied. Some types of neural networks were discussed briefly with concentration on the multi-layer perceptron network. Section four concerned with implementation of MLP with BP training, output layer training and hidden layer training were discussed .Section five talking about multi-layer perceptron algorithm using back-propagation. Section six talking about using neural network for classification, the softwares that use neural network for classification were mentioned. Then, a comparison between neural networks and statistical based classification was made.
