Advancements have occurred to overcome various shortcomings of the conventional GIC's and thereby increasing their properties, substantial progress has been noted in the advanced modifications of GIC's and newer advances also have been shown to have better properties, and there have been ongoing research regarding finding better modifications which are under trial.
