The Final Palaeolithic cultures of the European Plain were characterised by a variety of technological, social, economic and, possibly, ideological responses to a diversity of environmental and cultural changes, notably rapid and extreme changes in climate. This volume compares and contrasts patterns in subsistence and settlement across most of Northwestern Europe, including Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Latvia, the Netherlands, Poland, Sweden and Switzerland. Combining case studies with general reviews, the reports discuss Lateglacial environments, the chronology of Final Palaeolithic colonisation, cultural differentiation and recent important and interesting discoveries.
