As one of the first post-WWII Baby Boomers, Jim Chambers' childhood and early teenage years were in the 1950s, a remarkable decade for the United States that saw enormous political, technological, and cultural changes. Although many books have covered the headline-making events of the era in great detail, few of these books give the reader a real feel for what daily life was like for Americans living in that decade, especially for kids growing up then. The author remembers the little nuts and bolts things of daily life for families during the fascinating decade known as the Fabulous Fifties. "Recollections" perfectly blends paying homage to the little day-to-day rituals with a larger scale examination of social issues and mores of the times, and it's equally entertaining on either level. "Recollections" is a warm, lovingly honest, and fascinating portrait of America in the mid-20th Century.

Autorenporträt
Jim Chambers emanates from Derby in the East Midlands and is the eldest of three born to Dick and Barbara. His working-class roots are a source of pride, his father an enduring point of reference, the person Jim has most admired in life. But the world of butchery was not for him. Instead he opted for business, subsequently enjoying a career in the education technology market where he became a CEO in technology and training businesses and then non-executive chairman in ed-tech companies. Now more time rich walking and writing are his passions - perfect bed fellows. The 'Paradigm Shift' novel was self-published in 2013, and foretold the Brexit outcome years before any referendum had even been mooted. Then 'The Hope Affair' was published in April 2021 and 'Urban Scarecrows' follows in 2022. Jim is a long-term Derby County fan stretching back to the glory days of Brian Clough's and then Dave Mackay's championship winning sides of the 1970's.Jim lives in the Peak District of Derbyshire and is a family man who has been married to Barbara for over forty years. They have four offspring: Nicola, Andrew, Christopher, and Elizabeth and, at last count, four grandchildren.
