Contemporary studies concerning the Niger Delta conflict are sated with grievances and objections relating to major confrontations with numerous ethnic, community and environmental associations seeking to articulate regional interests in terms of neglect and pollution of its environment. These studies have not significantly explored the moral implications of the destructive activities of the oil multinational companies and neglect of citizens of the oil bearing communities. The complexity of contemporary ethical circumstances regarding resources exploitation challenges all stakeholders in Nigeria oil industry to develop a true competence in the discernment of appropriate human values underpinning the activities of oil industries. Therefore, this work investigated the ethical connotations of the attitude of the stakeholders involved in oil activities in the Niger Delta. This is with a view to discovering a permanent reconciliation between the restive youths, civil societies and the oil companies in the area. This book is therefore recommended for students, scholars, public administrators, social movement activists and stakeholders in oil industries.

Essien Daniel Essien holds a doctorate degree in Social and Comparative Religious Ethics from University of Ibadan, Nigeria. He is currently teaching Social, Christian and Comparative Religious Ethics in University of Uyo, Nigeria. His area of research interest includes Political Ethics, Environmental Ethics, Community and Religious Ethics.
