Even though the fundamentals involved in extractive metallurgy have been known for centuries, there has always been room for improving the existing processes. This is no different in ferroalloy production: The problem of the metal recovery installation in a process plant stands out from the environmental and economic point of view. The study presented in this book was carried out at the Morro Azul ferronickel plant, which eventually evolved and was turned into this book. The scope now is the generic slag processing case in ferroalloy production; a few suggestions for the study and implementation of a metal recovery facility are presented. It is a book that has been written for students, professionals and researchers who wish to investigate slags and acquire more information on the distinct behaviors of the materials involved.
