Nací el 25 de mayo de 1982 en la aldea de Salukanan, a unos 250 km de Makassar, la capital de la provincia de Sulawesi del Sur, Indonesia. Desde su infancia, recibió una educación muy disciplinada de su difunto padre, que también fue un luchador por la independencia de la República de Indonesia. Se graduó de la escuela primaria a la secundaria en su ciudad natal.
