The importance of reading in human life has always been the subject of study by many thinkers. Seen as an essential and necessary tool for learning, it has the capacity to promote individuals, social and economic success and make human beings aware of themselves in the world and in their relationship with it. In this way, we are far from reaching the level of significant literate societies through our schools, due to the lack of appreciation for reading, education and various factors that negatively interfere with the formation of readers and the quality of teaching. Thus, the articles that make up this book address the formation of readers at school, emphasising the marvellous genre, literary tales and comics. They also discuss education in the country and how SPAECE has contributed to improving education in the state of Ceará. We hope, therefore, to stimulate the search for solutions, reflecting on the attitude of all those who co-operate in the formation of individuals and society, be they teachers, mediators, parents, conscious people, capable of acting, expanding and interfering positively in the world.
