This collection of poems is a reflection of Samuel Harrison's life experiences from his youth until the present day. They also reflect his ancestors' life experiences and those of many Blacks in America. This collection of poems captures the challenges, struggles, and accomplishments of their past and present. "Our past is something we must continuously learn from and we must build upon the lessons learned. Our ancestors were pioneers and made significant accomplishments, despite the many obstacles they encountered along the way. Their ability to overcome great odds should be a source of pride, inspiration, and motivation to continue the work necessary to increase access to opportunity and success for Black Americans as an essential part of America's commitment to improving the Black Experience in America."
