This research investigates Korean learner interaction involving requests and refusals. This study investigates those findings in reverse with Korean learners of English.This study is exploratory in nature with discourse completion tasks (DCT) and discourse-perceptions Likert test, and interviews to investigate language used in discourse settings related to requests and refusals. Previous studies have focused on methods and treatments related to sociocultural and authentic interactions to help learners reframe. This present study focuses on the meaning of frame and how politeness affects face for the KEFL learner to reframe in the new target language.

H.J.Chon holds a BS in Education from UMD, a MA in Education from UOPX and a PhD in English Education from Chonnam National University. His research interests include Pragmatics & Politeness, Discourse Analysis, Conversation Analysis and Hermeneutics.
