Author Jeanne Jacoby Smith, Ed.D. is professor emerita of English and Teacher Education at McPherson College in Kansas. An avid writer and active member of the Church of the Brethren, she chronicled her church's experience with the refugee family in this book when her church resettled them in the United States. As Professor Emerita at McPherson College in Kansas, Jeanne has published many articles, with a focus on education, world hunger, and other charitable causes. She is the author of 'An Altar in the Forest: A History of Mount Lebanon Campmeeting, 1892-1992' and 'Mt. Lebanon Campmeeting: 1904-2004 - Tabernacle Celebration'. Jeanne and her husband, Dr. Herb Smith, have taught at universities in Japan and India. Today, they lead students, alumni, and others on travel-study trips to Europe, Asia, and Africa.
