Based on the understanding that the development of the state of Goiás is directly linked to the availability and quality of transport infrastructure, the project, which has been underway for more than 15 years, called the Multimodal Logistics Platform of the State of Goiás, was analysed to see if the competitive advantages initially proposed can still foster regional development, as well as to assess the condition of the state's transport infrastructure. To this end, the policies, plans and programmes of the state and federal governments aimed at the transport sector were analysed, and the state government's investment effectiveness index in this segment (2006 to 2014) was surveyed, using data obtained from the Transparency Portal of the State of Goiás, the Goiás State Secretariat for Management and Planning, Portal Brasil, the Logistics Investment Programme and the Mauro Borges Institute, as well as a detailed analysis of the situation of the factors listed as the project's competitive advantages.
