Electronic Health Record (EHR) is the one capable of storing health, and wellness information of the subject of care enabling secure communication, and multiple accesses from authorized users represented as per agreed logical information model used in supporting effective, quality, integrated and life-long healthcare. As it is in digital format, it can be interoperable & shared with other organizations like laboratories, clinics, pharmacies, and medical imaging facilities for better treatment. There are two main Indian standards followed in our country- Digital Information Security In Healthcare (DISHA) Act and National Digital Health Blueprint (NHDB) along with ISO standards. The importance of biometrics in its maintenance, regulatory perspectives of EHR, and other important information related to it is mentioned clearly.
