In simple societies ethno-ecology is intimately related with the cultural and religious belief. A number of natural resources plays a vital role in different rituals from their cradle to grave. It is intimately related with their cultural cognition and to the process of enculturation. Again it is deeply rooted with their social structure and organization through the concept of clan and totemic object. Thus among the simple societies religion, culture and ecology is a comprehensive approach and it has its own symbolic cultural interpretation. In this study such issues are analyzed in detail on the Karbi tribal group of Northeast India. It has been done on the basis of empirical field work under a bonafied research work.
