This article aims to understand why evangelical personalities seek the political arena as necessary to guarantee the interests of the Church, and why parliamentary candidates with no ties to the Church find support for their candidacies at the altars. Evangelicals as a social segment have increasingly sought to insert themselves into politics. To this end, they are trying to expand the concept among the faithful of the need for religious leaders to hold political office as a divine determination. The research presented in the book is guided by the ethnographic method, which made it possible to reveal, through the life stories of the interviewees, how some members of the Assembléia de Deus Evangelical Church in the city of São Borja - RS think about decision-making regarding the choice of political representatives. This institution was chosen for observation, research and interviews. The work is made up of theoretical concepts that cover the relevant issues for a better understanding, thus enabling the reader to better understand the subject developed, Politics and Religion.
