Fokkina McDonnell's Remembering / Disease presents melodic meditations which explore the inner workings of the heart. McDonnell's poetry reflects on the small details which form larger existential questions and conundrums. Her poems pause, with the elegance and grace of her two great influences Jane Kenyon and Louise Glück, "still waiting for permission to speak".
